Knox County Charter Amendment Drive
Broadcast Date: September 7, 2008

Harlow Sumerford is filling in again this week for Gene Patterson.
A major hurdle was cleared Tuesday in an effort to put proposed charter amendment changes on the November ballot. Members of Knox Charter Petition delivered boxes full of petitions with more than 100,000 signatures to the election office. Election workers now have the task of counting and verifying the signatures before the amendments get put on the November ballot. Don Parnell, who is the chairman of Knox Charter Petition, talks about the proposed amendments and efforts to convince voters to pass them.
Then, Knox County Commissioner Mark Harmon, who is also a journalism professor at the University of Tennessee, discusses the charter amendment drive and variety of other local issues facing county commissioners.
For the Final Word segment, Harlow is joined by 6 News political analyst George Korda.
